REGISTRATION RATES FOR RESIDENTS/NATIONALS OF LOW-INCOME COUNTRIES
To further enhance our Society’s intellectual richness, rigor, diversity and accessibility, CIES 2018 Mexico City offers a discounted registration rate for CIES members who are residents or nationals of countries that are not classified as high-income. See this Low-income country list* to confirm if you are eligible for the discounted rate.
*CIES uses the World Bank classification of countries by income, which defines high-income economies as those with a GNI per capita of $12,236 or more for the current 2018 fiscal year. Thus, residents or nationals of any country with a GNI per capita of less than $12,236 are eligible for this discount: https://datahelpdesk.worldbank.org/knowledgebase/articles/906519
REGISTRATION RATES FOR ONE DAY PASSES
Attendees who plan to attend the conference for only one day may register at a $95 USD flat rate; these registrants must select their date of attendance upon registration. This fee includes conference materials that will provide access to the event venue and museums.
REGISTRATION RATES FOR GUESTS
Each member will be allowed to register one “guest” who is not a member to gain access to the conference and its associated venues for a fee of $90. This type of registration is designed for the spouse, partner, or family members of the registrant. Guests may visit the exhibits and attend the session(s) in which the registrant is presenting. Guest registration is not applicable for professionals (including students) in the field of comparative and international education who are attending sessions or presenting papers. Guest registration must be completed on-site in conjunction with non-guest registration of another conference attendee. Only one guest is allowed per registrant.
VISA INVITATION LETTERS
Unless you hold a valid (non-expired) visa or permanent residence of the United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom or Schengen area (European Union), you may require a visa to enter Mexico. Please contact the Mexican consulate in your country to verify visa requirements. If possible, air travel on direct routes to Mexico City International Airport (MEX) is recommended in order to avoid connections that require separate visas for the US or other countries.
CIES 2018 Mexico City participants may request official visa invitation letters from CIES to help facilitate their travel to Mexico. Visa invitation letters guarantee that participation in CIES 2018 is unpaid. When applying for visas, CIES 2018 participants must have adequate funds in their possession, as well as confirmed accommodations and return transportation.
In order to be eligible for a personalized CIES 2018 Mexico City visa invitation letter, you must first confirm your participation in CIES 2018 by either (a) registering for the conference AND paying registration fees in full; or (b) receiving acceptance notification for a proposal that identifies you as a presenter (decisions on proposal submissions will be made by late November 2017). To request a PDF visa invitation letter, please email iuconfs@indiana.edu with a copy of your paid registration and/or CIES 2018 acceptance letter.
CIES 2018 PARTICIPATION CERTIFICATES
CIES Annual Meetings do not provide conference attendees with participation certificates. However, we understand that such documentation may be necessary for reimbursement of expenses through participants’ institutions.
If you would like to request a hard-copy, personalized participation certificate to be available for pick up in-person at the registration desk during CIES 2018 Mexico City, you must do so via the online registration system. If you have already registered, you may sign-in to your account and make an edit under the “Participation Certificates” section.
REGISTRATION REFUNDS
Refunds will be issued less a $35 cancellation charge if the cancellation request is received in writing to iuconfs@indiana.edu by Wednesday, February 14, 2018. The cancellation fee will be waived for individuals who have registered at the low-income rate provided that cancellation notice is made by February 14, 2018. No refunds will be issued after this date.
