Conference Venues
The CIES 2018 conference will take place in Mexico, marking the third time in the Society’s history that the annual meeting has been held in this country. Previous conferences in 1978 and 1997 were hosted in Mexico City. In 2018, our conference will take place at the Hilton Reforma Mexico City, the Fiesta Inn Centro Histórico, and the Museo de Arte Popular (MAP). All venues are conveniently located downtown, just 20 minutes from Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX) and just footsteps from the historical downtown area and the famous Reforma Avenue.
Surrounded by prominent landmarks and attractions, conference attendees and guests can explore the beauty of the Alameda Central Park or stroll down Reforma Avenue for shopping, dining, galleries and museums showcasing the history and culture of Mexico. With their experienced, multilingual staff, the Hilton Reforma Mexico City, the Fiesta Inn Centro Histórico, and the Museo de arte Popular provide excellent sites for academic researchers, students, practitioners and policymakers to convene to help advance knowledge and practice in comparative and international education.

Hilton Reforma
A block of rooms has been reserved for conference guests at the Hilton Reforma Mexico City from March 21, 2018 until March 31, 2018. The special room rate is for single or double occupancy and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis until February 21, 2018 or until the group block is sold out. There is still availability at the Hilton Reforma. If you get a message on the Hilton website that your dates are unavailable, try choosing alternate dates or room types, or call the Hilton directly: +1-855-271-3617 or +52-55-5130-5300.
Fiesta Inn
CIES 2018 has also reserved a block of rooms at the Fiesta Inn Centro Histórico, steps away from the Hilton Reforma, from March 24, 2018 until March 30, 2018. The special room rate is for single or double occupancy and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis until February 23, 2018 or until the group block is sold out. Reserve a room using the discount code G18XXA@ALA and the group name 2018 CIES ANNUAL CONFERENCE. Click here to access the reservation portal.* Make sure to search in USD, not Mexican pesos (MXN). Histórico Central Hotel & Zócalo Central Hotel (part of the Central Hoteles chain)
The special room blocks for CIES 2018 participants at the Histórico Central Hotel and the Zócalo Central Hotel are reserved from March 24 until March 30, 2018. Rooms are subject to availability, and include American breakfast and taxes (16% VAT and 3% Local tax). To make a reservation, guests must call 5130-5130, ext. 6735 or send their reservation request by email to reservaciones@

Barceló México Reforma
To reserve a room at the Barceló México Reforma, located a 7-minute walk away from the CIES 2018 conference venues (see map above), guests may: 1) Call (52) 55 5128 5000 and request extension 5019, 5020, or 5297 to be transferred to reservations; OR 2) Email one of mexicoreforma.res@barcelo.com or mexicoreforma.res2@barcelo.com. When speaking with the Barceló reservations desk, guests can request the special rate with code 2178 or The Comparative And International Education Society. Tip: the reservation desk can find the special rate more quickly with the code.
Fiesta Americana Reforma
To book a room, guests must visit the reservations page, which can be accessed here. The website is in Spanish, but guests may choose to convert to English by clicking the button on the top left of the webpage. In the “Where Do You Want to Travel?” box, type the following: Fiesta Americana Reforma, Mexico City. Afterwards, guests may select the appropriate dates, number of adults/children, and number of rooms. Then, in the “GROUP CODE” box, type G19SEK@FARF (as is). Select the green box to submit and select your room.

La conferencia de CIES 2018 tendrá lugar en México, la tercera vez en la historia de la Sociedad que la reunión anual ha tenido lugar en este país. Las conferencias de 1978 y 1997 también fueron en Ciudad de México. En 2018, nuestra conferencia tendrá lugar en el Hilton Reforma de Ciudad de México, el Fiesta Inn Centro Histórico, y el Museo de Arte Popular (MAP). Cada lugar está convenientemente ubicado en el centro de la ciudad, a solo 20 minutos del Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México (MEX) y a pocos pasos del centro histórico y de la famosa Avenida Reforma.

Se pueden reservar habitaciones usando el código de grupo G18XXA@ALA y el nombre de grupo 2018 CIES ANNUAL CONFERENCE; el portal de reservaciones se encuentra aquí.* Asegúrese de realizar su búsqueda en USD, no en MXN. Cuando hablen con la recepción del Barceló, participantes pueden pedir el código de tarifa especial 2178 o mencionar la Sociedad de Educación Comparada e Internacional. Se les recomienda usar el código, con el cual el equipo de reservas puede encontrar más rápidamente la tarifa especial.

Para reservar una habitación en el Fiesta Americana Reforma, participantes deben visitar la página de registración del Fiesta Americana Reforma aquí. En el campo “¿Dónde quieres viajar?,” ingrese lo siguiente: Fiesta Americana Reforma, Ciudad de México. Después, deben seleccionar las fechas adecuadas, el número de adultos o niños, y la cantidad de habitaciones deseadas.
